November 20 Third Friday After Hours- FLOC

November’s Third Friday After Hours will benefit a local organization, For the Love of Children (FLOC). FLOC, an independent 501 C (3), not-for-profit organization, was formed in 1980 to assist Montgomery County Children Services in meeting the needs of foster children and abused or neglected children. Their vision is that children in Montgomery County will be able to live as happily as possible in a safe and nurturing environment.

The HOC has decided to help with FLOC's largest and most challenging program - "Christmas For Kids."  FLOC provides new gifts for up to 2,000 children in Montgomery County each year. The 2006 "Christmas For Kids" program served 643 girls and 665 boys for a total of 1308. These children range in age from infancy to 18. 

How can you help? Shop at the HOC shops on Friday November 20 and a portion of proceeds of all sales will be donated to FLOC to purchase these new gifts. Think of being a child at Christmas….. and let your heart guide you to help these kids.

Another way you can help this organization is to “dig out that old prom dress”!!


Remember your first prom dress? Remember feeling like a princess, buying that very first dress…. getting your hair and makeup done, pictures made…..most girls get to experience this, but not all are so lucky. 

Among other things, FLOC sponsors a winter ball for all children involved with Montgomery County Children's Services.  In an effort to help out locally, Laurie Smalley, owner of Miss Kelle's Boutique, sponsored a dress drive asking consignors to donate dresses. This effort has collected over 20 dresses so far and created the awareness of the need. Laurie is passionate about this organization, and continues to spread the word, asking for others to volunteer to help the cause. FLOC is in need of formal wear for boys and girls, florists, stylists, manicurists, tailors, etc. to make this event a success.  Contact Laurie at laurie@misskellesboutique.com if you can help.
